You Don’t Need to Run a Marathon to Be Fit

Last weekend, the London Marathon took over the city, with runners coming in from all over the world. So I thought it would be a good time to remind you not everyone is built to run a marathon. And that’s ok!

Some people thrive on endurance. Others don’t. Forcing yourself into something that doesn’t suit your body or your mindset is one of the fastest ways to burn out, lose consistency, or most importantly… injure yourself.

I see people thinking fitness only “counts” if it looks extreme. It doesn’t. What matters is finding something you can actually stick to.

Here’s how I approach it:

  1. Know What Works for You

If you hate running, don’t build your routine around it. You’re not failing, you’re just choosing the wrong workout.

  2. Strength Is Just as Important

Weight training, bodyweight exercises, resistance work... these build a strong, capable body without needing endless miles. Just don't over do it!

  3. Short and Consistent Beats Long and Rare

You don’t need 90-minute sessions. 20–30 minutes done regularly will take you further.

  4. Walking Is Underrated

Daily walks clear your head, improve your health, and keep you moving without pressure. Simple, but effective.

  5. Make It Sustainable

The best routine isn’t the hardest one. It’s the one you can repeat without relying on motivation.

And remember:

You don’t need to prove anything to anyone. You don’t need a marathon medal, a perfect routine, or extreme discipline to be in shape. You just need a system that works for you, and the discipline to stick with it.

Build that, and you’re already ahead.
